Data browser does not open when icon is selected, there are no error messages visible, it happens with every file, it just does not appear on the screen.
1. Open Bentley Map
2. Go to Tools\Geospatial\Utilities
3. Click on the Data browser icon
4. If it does not appear, go to the Window menu and select from the drop down list
5. If it still does not appear, make sure the dialog in question has focus (by selecting in Windows menu)
6. Press ALT + SPACE and the context menu should appear for the dialog
7. Press M on the keyboard or select Move using the mouse (this may be different for foreign languages)
8. Use the Arrow keys on the keyboard to move the Dialog into view (try all directions until outline of dialog appears)
9. Left click in the view to accept and the dialog is visible again
If data browser does not appear yet verify if issue happens with default user: msgeo or with a different user.
We can create a new UPF to verify if Data Browser shows again. If so this will show a case of UPF corruption.
To create new UPF:
This will open windows explorer showing the content of your user preferences folder
Note: some times copy and paste does not work in that case type the key in manually
2. Close Bentley Map and leave the windows explorer open- In the explorer windows look for a file with the .upf extension (example msgeo.upf) and either move it (not just copy) somewhere else or rename it to a different extension
3. Close windows explorer
4. Restart again Bentley Map and check if the issue still occurs. (new upf should be created automatically)
The data browser should be available now.
Note: Re-creating a new user preference file will reset your Bentley Map layout to its default settings, but by having it backed up (step 2 above) you will be able to restore it if this doesn't solve the problem.
