This tutorial will describe the steps needed to clip a reprojected image including Bing Maps.
By default reprojected images (including Bing Maps) cannot be clipped. The following workaround is recommended. In this example, the DGN is EPSG:26717 and the Image is EPSG:900913.
- Reproject the DGN to the CGS of the attached image. For Bing Maps, use EPSG:900913. The result of this step is that the image is attached without being reprojected and the DGN data is now reprojected to match the image. NOTE: To successfully reproject the DGN data, you may need to adjust the Reprojection Settings of the Active Model. This dialog is found in the Geographic Coordinate System icon bar.
- Fit the view and clip the image as needed. NOTE: The DGN elements may not fit nicely to the view. In that case, simply use Window Area to locate the data to the view.
- Once the image has been clipped, reproject the DGN data back to it's original GCS. In this example, that is EPSG:26717.
- Fit the view as needed.
The following video describes this workflow.
Note that this workflow does not require Descartes.
Note: Always have a backup of your DGN before reprojecting your data.
