OpenCities Map supports database connections to ESRI multiuser or Enterprise Geodatabases through the REST Feature Services. The feature service must be published using ArcGIS Server with REST Capability enabled.
The ArcGIS Connect command is used to establish a connection to ArcGIS Server, where you can Query, Edit, and Post changes to Map Features stored in the geodatabase. Edits are live, and once other users refresh or access the geodatabase using other applications they will see any changes made from OpenCities Map. Data Streaming is supported by this connection type, to quickly view a limited amount of data in a location, and add more as the view is panned and zoomed to other areas.
The ArcGIS Connect dialog is available from the Primary Ribbon Group, The Map Connections toolbox, and the Imports/Exports dialog box (read-only).
User – The ArcGIS Server username
Password – The ArcGIS Server password
Server URL – The published address of the ArcGIS server. The data served by the URL is prepared and published by the owner of the database. This could be a Map Service with the Feature Services capability enabled, for example.
All that is required for many connections is the Server URL.
When defining a graphical source as an ArcGIS Server connection in OpenCities Geospatial Administrator, the Build Connection dialog provides additional options.
Connection Name – The name of the graphical source. This is reflected in the OpenCities Map interface.
Description – An optional description
URL: – The published address of the ArcGIS server.
