    Error or Warning Message

When attaching an ECW image getting error message “We cannot create valid coordinate system file”

    Explanation

There is a problem with ECW and JP2 images where if you have Workspace > Preference > Raster Manager > Georeference “Use sister file if present for georeferenced image” unchecked it will still try and read the sister file and you will not be able to select Raster Header for the Geopriority.

    How to Avoid

Rename the ERS file associated with the ECW image, The ERS file can also be moved or deleted.  User will now be able to select Raster Header for the Geopriority when attaching an ECW image.
