How can I Post the new features (that be created new) to sde?

Hi every one!

I am a new member and I still have not much experience with using Geospatial Connector for Arcgis"
Now I have a problem need your help. Please help me to solve this issue.
This is all steps that I have did:
1. I had a *.gdb file in sde
2. I registed all features to Geospatial connector administrator
3. I created some more new features ex: text_A, text_B...
4. extracted some features from sde to dgn with Projectwise explorer.
5. In the dgn file I used place tool in "command manager" and placed some elements as "text_A", "text_B"
6. I posted all elements in dgn file to sde. but in sde i don't find any text_A or text_B feature
So what wrong in all my steps?
If I want to post these elements (that be created new) to sde, what are all steps I need to do?

Many thanks,
Ngoc
  • Hi Puja,

Yes, I am trying to find an alternate way to post the data other than the regular workflow. Do you have any way for this?

My case : When I edit dgn (was be extracted from sde) Many different text objects, cel-patterns, fames... will be created and must be posted to sde. With each one I must create a new feature class in sde, so I will must to create many features class... it takes more time and requires to be known before extraction.)

    Thanks & Regards
    Ngoc
  • First of all, with the ArcGIS Connector the definition of the feature must start at the backend database. The connector and Bentley map are the providers and editors of the data and do not control the feature definition.

It sounds like your workflow is either :

    1.    to extract from SDE via the connector and place new feature instances into the drawing to be posted,

    2.    or are you placing new elements into the drawing and wanting to post those as new feature definitions and their instances back to SDE ?

Choice #2 is not feasible. You must define the feature container first in the database, register those feature containers in the GSA, and then using the tools in Bentley Map create feature instances to be posted back to the database.

At some point in time you have to set the feature definition to contain the data, otherwise you have no GIS feature to work with.
