What's new in this release? Improved Background Maps In ProjectWise Geospatial V8i, we changed the background map engine included in ProjectWise Geospatial to use more advanced technology, that is, Bentley Geo Web Publisher. This new engine allows supporting more formats in the background maps as well as offering superior performance and robustness. The supported formats are: - DGN (Static or Live) - ESRI Shapefile - Oracle Spatial - Web Mapping Service (OGC WMS) - ODBC Spatial - Map Info file - DPR. It is possible to consume data stored inside ProjectWise as well data stored on disk or inside a standard relational database. ESRI Personal Geodatabase Support ProjectWise Geospatial V8i now supports ESRI Personal Geodatabase. Therefore it is now possible: - To store ESRI Personal Geodatabase in ProjectWise - To Scan the extent of an ESRI Personal Geodatabase (no need of an ESRI ArcGIS Desktop ArcView license) - To Scan the relationship between ESRI MXD (map document) and ESRI Personal Geodatabase (ESRI ArcGIS Desktop ArcView license) - To attach ESRI Personal Geodatabase stored in ProjectWise to an MXD while inside ArcMap. Linear Referencing of Documents and Folders/Project ProjectWise Linear Referencing expands the ProjectWise Geospatial capability with the ability to reference document and folders/project linearly along a linear asset. This can be used to help manage a project happening on a linear asset; it can be used to add linear referencing information to as-built data allowing to quickly finding this data later on, etc. For example find me the Projects we worked on for the past two years that located at 50 miles along highway 10. Or find me the permits document delivered between kilometer 50 and 100 along track id 10. Or find me all the design documents produced at stationing 50KM. Therefore it is now possible: - To create linear feature inside ProjectWise - To create linear location and assign them to documents and folder - To search using Linear Referencing Criteria Thanks Francois
My question is what can I do in ProjectWise V8i. without the addition of ProjectWise Geospatial V8i
I created a basemap but cannot seem to define area to assign to files within Projectwise
Can you help me or refer me to someone who can help
Thanks,
Roger
Hi Roger,
Geospatially, ProjectWise V8i enables users to create background map, define coordinate system, assign spatial location, scan AutoCAD and SHP files, create geostial view for files or folders with thematic mapping capability, searching document with geospatial criteria etc.
There are several ways to assign location to file or folder. If a background map is presented, basically you can select the desire file and right-click to get the Properties dialog box and then select the Geospatial tab. In that tab, setting the Source as Custom then click on the Edit button to get the Edit dialog box. Using the edit tools in the toolbar to create the spatial location based on the desire geometry type . Once it is done, click OK to close the Edit dialog box. Finally click Save button and Close button to exit the Properties dialog box.

Hi Dionnald,
I have installed the v8i but in the Explorer I dont see the Geospatial tab at all. The help is not helping me. Is there document that can help me more on this issue.
In Administrator when i try to create the background map using a DGN, i see message that its trying to convert to DPR and then nothing happens.
Kindly advise.

Riz,
If someone hasnt answered you yet, You need to add Spatial Extensions to you ProjectWise Explorer. If ProjectWise has already be installed, goto Control Panel, Add Remove , ProjectWise Explorer, Change , Modify and Select Spatial Extensions, then follow the prompts to complete the install.
BTW: The Tab will say Spatial not GeoSpatial. You need to Install the GeoSpatial Management tool to it to say GeoSpatial and gain additional features.
I hope this helps
