With the release of ProjectWise V8i, spatial features that were previously delivered with the Geospatial extension to ProjectWise have moved to core ProjectWise.
Spatial in ProjectWise Administrator:Coordinate Systems Symbologies Background Maps Spatial Metadata Scanners
Spatial in ProjectWise Explorer:Ability to create and load spatial location files (SLF) Spatial location scanner for CAD, Image, and SHP files ESRI Set Support for SHP files Basic background map interface Basic symbology legend Spatial properties for documents and folders Spatial View toolbar Spatial searches Spatial iDesktop Integration with MicroStation
ProjectWise Geospatial Management is added to ProjectWise Spatial and brings more advanced Geospatial options to ProjectWise:
Creating, Managing and Publishing Background Maps using Bentley Geo Web PublisherThe background map engine included in ProjectWise Geospatial Management use more advanced technology, that is, Bentley Geo Web Publisher. This engine allows supporting more formats in the background maps as well as offering superior performance and robustness. The supported formats to be used in the maps are: DGN, ESRI Shapefile, Oracle Spatial, Web Mapping Service (OGC WMS), ODBC Spatial. Spatial Component IndexingXFM feature properties can be indexed as component attributes. Spatial locations can be added to the components folders and component instances. The spatial location of the component is linked to the spatial location of the containing document.
Spatial Indexing by AttributesSpatial indexing by attributes is performed on documents with no real spatial information, such as text or pdf documents. An attribute is associated with these documents to spatially reference them.
ESRI Personal Geodatabase SupportWith ProjectWise Geospatial it is possible to store ESRI Personal Geodatabase in ProjectWise and Scan their spatial extent.
Spatial iDesktop Integration with ESRI ArcMapProjectWise iDesktop for ArcMap adds ProjectWise functionality ArcMap. ArcMap file formats can now be stored in ProjectWise and it is possible to scan the relationship (*.MXD) in order to create sets.
Spatial iDesktop Integration with MapInfoProjectWise iDesktop for MapInfo adds ProjectWise functionality MapInfo. MapInfo file formats can now be stored in ProjectWise and it is possible to scan the relationship between TAB (table document) and WOR (workspace document) in order to create sets.
As soon as one Geospatial Map exists within the datasource, it is considered as a Geo Datasource and the Geo client extension is required to view the Geospatial tab. There is no possibility to have just a Spatial tab in this case, as the Spatial Navigator cannot display a Geospatial Map. You cannot switch between the Spatial/Geospatial tab or no tab at all depending on which folder has been selected (and which map, spatial or Geo) is assigned to this specific folder.
This may be the result of one or more issues:
