For our first Coffee Corner of 2022, we'll take a closer look at the new Discontinuity element.

Rock mass is not a homogeneous material: the presence of faults, fractures, joints, and weakness planes influence the mechanical behavior, often more than the properties of the rock mass itself. With the new Discontinuity element in PLAXIS 2D we can now incorporate this.

In this Coffee Corner we will cover:

  • What is a Discontinuity element?
  • When would you need this?
  • Which properties do we need?

Geotechnical Analysis Coffee Corners are open to all Bentley users, free of charge. One learning unit is applied to each participant’s Bentley Transcript for self-reporting. To view prior sessions, watch the Recordings On-Demand.

**The webcast will be streamed through your computer, so there is no dial-in number.  Please make sure your computer speakers (or headset) are turned on and the volume is set to an audible level so you can hear the presenters.  Help
