Embankment stability using PLAXIS 3D (13 July 2021) - Geotechnical Analysis Coffee Corner

Title: Coffee Corner: Geotechnical Analysis: Embankment stability using PLAXIS 3D
Date/Time: July 13, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. CET and again at 04:00 P.M. CET
Presenter:
Micha van der Sloot, Sr, Manager User Advancement, Geotechnical, Bentleys Systems, Inc.

Only very few projects can really be considered 2D and most projects have 3D effects. Modeling projects in 2D would mean that you must make assumptions, which may lead to conservative designs or forget to take 3D effects.

In this month's Coffee Corner we will be looking at how this 3D effect influences embankment modeling and slope stability.

Our topics include:

  • Understanding 3D effects
  • How to quickly move from a geometry in 2D to 3D
  • Showing a practical example of drainage

The Geotechnical Analysis Coffee Corners are open to all Bentley users, free of charge. One learning unit is applied to each participant's Bentley Transcript for self-reporting.
