the calculation of hydraulic resistance

Hi, 
 According to the reference manual, the hydraulic resistance is defined by d/k. Can I use this definition directly to calculate hydraulic resistance？ 
 Or do I need to use another formula ∆&phi;/q? if using this,I have to get the discharge q. But actually my calculation is to get the discharge. So could you please give me some advice？

 You can consider the hydraulic resistance just like the conductivity of soils. Typically for soils, one would measure with a given head (&Delta;&phi;) the difference in the amount of water that flows through it (&Delta;l). This means that with any arbitrary head difference (or based on the size of the soil sample), one can calculate the discharge using Darcy's law. 
 With the plate and interface, the aforementioned process is applicable, too: one should measure the discharge through the wall with a given head difference. Then, it is possible to determine the discharge from having different head differences or by giving the specific head difference you have in your project.
