Hi
(I edit post and put better images to explain problem better)
I model same problem in 2 way: once with plate element and once with cluster elastic element
in order to compare result i need force and moment in cluster case.so i model a plate element with reduced stiffness(factor of 1e-8) to capture forces(at output i multiply force magnitudes with coefficient of 1+e8)
i got some drawbacks.
i got axial tension at joints and moment magnitude at corner is considerably decreased compared to modeling with plate element only.
Any one has any idea?
Dear Ahmad,
There are a few comments to make on this.
Firstly, when comparing forces between the two approaches (plate vs. volume elements), it is important to be aware of the mesh sensitivity when using volume elements. The polygons require quite some refinements to be able to produce accurate results.
I would expect to get a similar response between the two approaches.
Note that in the model with the plate you need to consider the overlap with the soil, which means that you need to adjust the unit weight of the plate element.
If you still cannot understand the difference in your models, I would recommend to reach out via service request in order to be able to check the projects and assist you further: https://apps.bentley.com/srmanager/ProductSupport
