As this is an accepted approach by authentic sources including FHWA and ITA, and also there are so many papers are referring to Plaxis results based on this approach.

It is brought in 13.5.1.1 Simplified Procedure for Ovaling Response of Circular Tunnels: https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/bridge/tunnel/pubs/nhi09010/tunnel_manual.pdf

Can you please provide us with your comments in more details?

Regards,

However, it is not over with that. This is very tricky process and even after 100ths of analyses, I can still find some problems in a procedure that works for 100 others. So, you should understand the analytical method, the expected deformation profile (both free field and with tunnel) and check the Plaxis with that. Assuming Plaxis will work well for this method is not a good idea.
