Hi all,
I performed flow only analysis in Plaxis 2D to get the water head loss due to MH excavation (axisymmetry model) and looked the hydraulic gradient it showed huge value (18m excavation and head loss is 1.5m). Please tell what is the reason and is any way to calculate the FOS for seepage analysis in plaxis 2D?
As i want the solution urgent, please help me ASAP.
Thanks.
Along with the above inquiry, while doing plastic analysis (axisymmetric , MC model) why there is a failure at the base point of the plate and the soil which used for the man hole excavation?
anyone reply please as i need it in urgent manner
Hello Hitha NN, I also faced this issue, could you share the answers. Thank you.
Hi Mr. Nam, I'm not able to find the reason for this. I checked many literatures but no source. Hi community if anyone knows please share which will help us alot.
Hi,
I have been facing this issue almost 6 years, Actually this is a undrained problem, we can't run in drain. At site this type of failure wont happen unless the soil is sand.
Hi Mr. Ganesu,
Yeah, i already run in un-drained condition it got passed. Once i run in drained condition it's fail. but we can run undrained analysis if the soil major component is sand. The program shows it fails but in site it may be passed. So how to ensure what is the failure mode in this software? If we little bit shift the water level then it may be passed. I need the reason behind this.
Could I rise one more question here please, when modelling a axisymmetric excavation (like manhole excavation), how do you provide the water table (are you providing using steady flow option or phreatic level )? and could you please show me screenshot of the water table?
