Catch Points to draw line

How can I draw a line between two points in the already existing model in Plaxis 3D without having to enter the coordinates of the end-points? Is there a possibility to "catch" the already existing points to draw the line or implenent a pointload a lot faster and easier?

Thanks for your help!

  • Dear Jeremy,

If I understood you correctly, you want to create a line between two existing points in PLAXIS 3D without typing its coordinates.
If it is true, you can use one of the following variants:

    1. The name of point

    a. Choose two points with pressed Ctrl (or with selection rectangle) and click the right mouse button. In the appeared menu choose Selection:

The names of the points will be copied to clipboard.

    b. Choose line option on the side bar or type «line» in the command line and paste the text (Ctrl+V):

    c. Unfortunately PLAXIS does not like parentheses (brackets), so we need to delete it:

    d. Press Enter:

You can choose only one point, copy its name via right-click menu, paste it in the command line and repeat the algorithm for the second point.

    2. Tab key

    a. Choose line option on the side bar or type «line» in the command line.
    b. Point the mouse cursor on the first point.
    c. Click Tab key to snap it. Cursor freezes.
    d. Point the cursor on the second point.
    e. Click Tab key for the second snapping
    f. Click again for the line.

    Hope it will help you.
