Indeed, setting the proper units is important, but I can imagine you were not really working on mm.

Many thanks! I didn't notice that this was also happening on the X and Y scales. It is strange since I put the units in both Autocad and Rhino 6 as meters.

Anyway, it works for now as workaround

If the X,Y and Z scales are off by 1000, may be the Step flle is defaulting to mm instead of m. Try importing the STEP file with a sale 0.001 and see if the X and Y are correct.
