PLAXIS3D question:
I am wanting to model several piles embedded in the ground, with the upper portion of the pile having an outer sleeve (steel casing with annulus being a void) around it so that it is not loaded by soil pushing on it laterally

RE: PLAXIS3D - modelling of pile sleeves

Hi Stefanos,

Please see some examples of pile sleeves below:

PILE-SLEEVES-REDUCE-NEGATIVE-SKIN-FRICTION.jpg (1237×691) (civildigital.com)

I am happy with my model using an embedded beam with no skin friction at the moment, I will get in touch if I have any further questions.

Cheers

I would definitely like to see a picture of that pile sleeve, as it seems a great solution in reality.

Anyways, numerically it is possible to connect embedded beams in a chain so your solution can potentially work. Convergence issues can be related to many different reasons so it is hard to tell what is happening in your case.
