Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask you a question about the simplification of a 3D model in Plaxis. Because of the great amount of time it takes to run the calculations, we have been thinking about using only one quarter of the geometry of the building we are modelling. I was wondering if it is possible to pick up the current geometry and divide it in four almost symetrical parts so that we can use what is already done and will not have to create a new geometry.
Thank you in advance!
Juan,
You probably know this, don't forget to change the default boundary conditions along the slice lines which are presumably as close to the lines of symmetry as possible.
Martin
Dear Juan,
For the borehole soil layers, all you need to do is to adjust the model boundaries in the Project properties window.
For any objects added in Structures model, you can introduce two vertical surfaces and select them to intersect with the current geometry. Then, you can remove the parts you do not want.
