Hello,
I would like to simulate a hollow slab in Plaxis 2D. I proceeded like this. First option: I simulate the slab with plate element with a reduced stiffness. Second option: I simulated the hollow slab with a reduced thickness compared to a full slab. What you think about it? Is there any other options to simulate a hollow core slab in Plaxis 2D
Kind regards,
Mohmmed,
It's all about bending and axial stiffness with plates, so as long as you get the stiffness's right you should have the right soil response. I'm not recommending it but if you were really interested in the stresses in the hollow slab you could model the actual dimensions of the slab using soil elements (with concrete properties of course). For the hollow part you can deactivate the elements at the start of the analysis.
I'd start with the plate first though to make sure you have the soil part working the way you want.
Martin
Thank you so much.
