Hi,I want to model micropile group by using embedded beam elements in PLAXIS 3D v2020 but I don’t know how I can calculate BASE RESISTANCE and AXIAL SKIN RESISTANCE for micropiles. Thank you very much for your help.
Dear Shahab,
The axial skin resistance and the base resistance are properties that define the bearing capacity of the embedded beam element. These values are provided as input data to predetermine the capacity of the structure you use in your model.
The data should come from field testing data, single-pile testing or experience from a previous project. Then, you can perform a calibration of the embedded beam in a simple model to match the real data so that you can be confident that when using it in a complex model the response will be as intended.
Thank you so much.
