Modulus in Stage construction - Hardening Modelling

I don't know if I did well my model using HS model.

In my case the model is related with a dam construction. I used 11 stages.

When I verified the modules adopted by Plaxis, I discovered Plaxis used Eur in place of E50. ¿Is that correct?

I thought the correct way to solve the problem is considering E50 when you put a new layer because you load for first time this layer. Please let me know if I analyze in a good way this problem.

The following pictures shows 1. Soil Properties, 2. The section where I reviewed modulus, 3. Graph including: Current Young Modulus (Extracted from Plaxis), Theoretical E50 modulus, Theoretical Eur modulus.

  • Dear Berk,

The original question is that Paula thinks the HS model only uses Eur because when she looks at the output she only sees Eur being plotted as the Young's modulus while she expected to see the E50 and/or the Eoed plotted.
I explained that is because only Eur is a real Young's modulus in the HS model while E50 and Eoed are not. So when asking to plot the Young's modulus the plot shows Eur. There are no plots for E50 and Eoed because these stiffness are in fact not directly used by the HS model, the HS model has internal derived parameters.
That all has nothing to do with depth, stress or strain dependent stiffness as you claim and your example formula is not even a Young's modulus in the HS model irrespective of what it is in geotechnical engineering since the question is specifically on the HS model. Hence, your answer doesn't answer the original question and can even be considered confusing.
