Hi everyone,I'm starting to use plaxis 2D and try to model a berth, using embedded beams. Piles of a berth are both straight and inclined. In 3D they are definitely not gonna cross each other but in 2d modeling they seems to have intersections. Is this gonna affect the result? If yes is there any solutions?Thank you a lot for your precious instructions!
Dear Viet Anh Quach,
Just to make it clear: the piles should cross, but they should not intersect (think about roads: one road passing over the other is a crossing; two roads a the same level with or without traffic light is an intersection, mathematically it's not a crossing).Unlike plates and geogrid elements, the embedded beam rows in 2D when they cross they do not interconnect....so you can use them to model for instance inclined piles where in reality the piles don't intersect because they're at different out-of-plane distance.
With kind regards,
Dennis Waterman

Thank you so much sir Dennis Watetman. You did make it so clear and easily to understand for me. I'm very appreciated.
