Hi All,
I am currently working on a cross passage excavation between two TBM tunnels. The cross passage, its collar and the TBM tunnel are shown in the following figure.
The volume loss inside TBM tunnel is modelled by using surface loads (30% Relaxed in-situ stress is used). When I checked the interface stress around TBM tunnels after the TBM tunneling phase there has been some unrealistic peaks at bottom portion of collar, CP intersection to TBM tunnel location.
Could you please help me out why this is happening? Is there any way to avoid this?
Thank you
Dear Abhijith,
Difficult to say from the screenshots as I do not have the full model to investigate.
It may be a result of meshing, it can be what is happening on the other side.
