Dear teacher
In the plaxis 2D, the swell model in the article "Modelling Swelling Rock Behaviour in Tunnelling" is theswell rock 15m * 15m below the inverted arch. How to operate this step and how to make the curve of the inverted arch uplift with time in the subsequent analysis of parameters. Can the teacher give us the video tutorial in the article case?
Dear Sir,
What is the main advantage of using UDSM-swell model in Plaxis 2D over other clay models? And what are the Key parameters in Swell model that must be considered to achieve the best results for the model...
Dear Jackson,
Based on my understanding, I do not believe that this model is particularly suitable for clays (at least not its reason for existence).
I would expect a model such as the Barcelona Basic Model (BBM) would be more appropriate, which was particularly developed to model the wetting collapse of clay.
However, currently, the Barcelona Basic Model (BBM) is being validated due to some issues that were encountered. We are working on releasing it soon again: https://communities.bentley.com/products/geotech-analysis/w/wiki/46109/barcelona-basic-model---plaxis-udsm
