Hi guys,
Getting a failure when trying to save *any* of my projects, even when opening and immediately trying to save over old, completed projects.
I've tried moving the project file and folder to new, "shorter" locations, removing the data.convd.rr5 file below, closing "open projects" in both Input and Output, resaving to a different locations etc, and a combination of all. The inability to save over old, completed, previously completely working projects is odd to me. Any help would be appreciated!
"Not all project files could be saved. Some possible causes and solutions are:
- Insufficient rights: save to a location where you have write access.
- Read-only location (e.g. DVD-ROM): save to a location that is physically writeable.
- Path too long: save to another location that has a shorter path length
- Files locked by another application (e.g. virus scanner or another Plaxis component): close all applications that may interfere with the files
Please address the problem and try again, or save the project under a different name. Note that the project may be corrupted if parts of it were written successfully, while other parts were not.
Details: File could not be saved: data.convd.rr5"
- Restarting the connection client / Plaxis as a whole seemed to sort this out. I expect this was due to incomplete saving of a view or output state while I had paused a calculation to troubleshoot results.

Hi James,
I do have a similar issue. As you are saying restarting will help, if I restart now, the results will be lost. Is that correct? If yes, then how can I save my results and then restart?
This is the error I am getting
Dear James,
The error indeed can be triggered because of one of the reasons mentioned. Most typically it is an issue of Windows checking a file, an antivirus, an indexing software or any process that keeps the file busy and blocks it from closing and being moved.
Usually, only a restart can really make sure that the file is free again, but that risks losing information.
In this case, the data.convd.rr5 is a debug file containing information on the convergence process for Phase_5. This is the file anyone can inspect as explained here: https://communities.bentley.com/products/geotech-analysis/w/plaxis-soilvision-wiki/52853/calculation-kernel-convergence-log
If this specific type of file causes the problem it can be that it is still open or as mentioned before busy because of another application. In any case, you can choose to delete this file and miss the convergence information but at least allow you to save the rest of the project.
Great to hear that you resolved it. This can happen as I explained below.
