In the attached image, I am trying to intersect and recluster two vertical plates: the red highlighted one and the other blue plate which is just perpendicular to it as shown in the image. . When I am selecting two plates and right click, I can see the option of intersect and recluster. If I do that, it just changes the plate numbers but does not divide the red highlighted plated into 2. Why is this occurring? What should be the way out?

Great to hear that.
I have to admit from the screenshot it is not very clear which plates you are selecting, but indeed. if the two objects do not fully intersect then the command does not perform any intersection (only recreation of the existing objects).
