Please explain, what is the rinter value in PLAXIS 2D? how can this determine for particular structure?
Dear Shaija,
I would strongly advise you to check our Manuals, Reference and Tutorials to better understand about Rinter.
In short, this is a generic factor to reduce both the strength and the stiffness of the interfaces. This value should not be a parameter for which the design can drastically change. This is a rough way of reducting strength and stiffness. This depends on the materials you have. In principle concrete with clay material has a completely different relative behaviour compared to sand or granular material.
If changes in the Rinter highly affect the analyses you perform you should choose to create a dedicated material for the interface behaviour and switch the option to Custom as shown below. Then you can directly provide the properties of the interface:
Dear Stefanos
Could you please explain why do we reduce the strength and stiffness of the interface??
King Regards
Dear Cristina,
I recommend reading paragraph 6.1.7.2 of the PLAXIS 2D 2023 Reference Manual.
With kind regards,
