I want to ask when reviewing soil improvement using PVD, why is the result of the decrease in time using my plaxis 2D when 2 m spacing is faster than 1.5 m spacing and 1.5 m spacing is faster than 1 m spacing?shouldn't pvd spaced closer should be faster? is there any effect on the mesh?
Thank you mr Dennis
Dear Randy,
As I mentioned in my previous message, without any data on how things have been modelled the results may or may not be correct and may or may not make sense. I would suggest you send a service request with your project to https://apps.bentley.com/srmanager/ProductSupport so that one of our support engineers can have a look at it.
With kind regards,
Dennis Waterman
Is the result like this correct or does it make sense? The following is a graph of soil improvement using PVD with 1 m and 1.5 m . spacing variations
Hi,
Normally indeed using wick drains closer together gives faster consolidation. However, without any data provided it's impossible to say why in your case it's the opposite.
