I am modeling a simple circular footing on the sand with prescribed displacement with Plaxis V20. The issue is that sometimes the calculation stops prematurely without finishing the process. The notification would be something like; load advancement fails, or soil failure.
Now, when I take the same exact case to Plaxis 8.6, the calculation continues normally without any issues, even the deformation looks good.
Hence, and after many runs in both versions, I think the issue is that the V20 version stops mistakenly.
My question is, how to change the stop criteria in Plaxis V20?
This error typically appears when the program detects numerical problems. For this case, you need to carefully inspect the input data provided, e.g. material parameters, boundary conditions, etc. and check the following Output plots:
A combination of these plots will usually give insight into what is happening. Then, you may need to perform any adjustments in your model to prevent numerical issues.
