I am trying to generate random field, for which I want to vary my soil properties along horizontal direction? Boreholes don't allow to specify different material properties for same depth. Is there any other way so that material properties can be varied along horizontal profile.
Hi Rituraj Singh Sujawat,
Instead of using the borehole tool to generate the soil clusters/volumes, you can create surfaces (PLAXIS 2D) or volumes (PLAXIS 3D) in Structures mode and assign different material datasets to each cluster/volume. These different material datasets could represent the variation of properties along the horizontal direction. Here is an example of how that would look:
What will be the continuity equation at the interface of the two surfaces/volumes?
The soil volumes are connected, so the continuity is in the displacements.
With kind regards,

Will continuity of flow also apply here? That is the velocity of flow is the same on both sides of the interface.
If there actually is an interface then that does not necessarily have to be the case. However, if there is no interface and the soil is just connected then indeed the flow will be equal on either side. Hence, you can control the level of continuity yourself. With kind regards,
