PLAXIS LE Soil Nail Analysis

Hi there, I'm wondering what does the F for the soil nail analysis results actually stand for and why is it that same figures were obtained for all 7 nails. Did I do something wrong somewhere? Please advice thank you

  • The magnitude of the force (F) applied in the actual calculations may be determined based on the input properties defined on the Support Properties dialog. These properties will determine a force diagram for the support. The amount of force that will be applied at the slip surface is determined by where the slip surface intersects the support.

For soil nail supports the force applied depends on where along the length of the support slip surface intersects. For example if the slip surface applies or cuts the stripping portion of the support and the value at the specific stripping location is calculated. The same applies for the tensile failure and the pull sections of the forced diagram.

It should be realized that the force diagram for each support option represents an approximate application of force for limit equilibrium analysis. It should be noted that a more detailed analysis can be performed using a finite element or finite code to determine the true stresses at a given location.
