Hello
I'm doing steady-state seeapge analysis of Nuozhadu Dam. I have a question about total discharge. I took 2 crossection in upstream and downstream but total discharges are different.
Shouldn't the flow through all sections of the dam be the same? I show the crossections below and results. In A-A 18930 m3/day/m, in B-B total discharge 3690.
Why is this wrong
Thank you.
Theoretically, yes both cross-sections should have the same discharge. I see in section A-A, the groundwater flow contours show areas of high flows. This area would also have high flow velocity but the mesh is not as dense as the analysis requires. Also, it is best practice to always check the values with hand calculated values to know which value is more closer to the theoretical value. Please refine the mesh in areas where high flow velocity is expected. Once you have a finer mesh in these zones of high flow velocities and your cross-sections are in zones of denser mesh, then you should get very similar values in different cross-sections.
Firstly, thank you for answer but it doesnt work. I mean ı meshed very fine but they are still very different. I took in A-A section 4800, in B-B section 17320. I didnt get why were they so different.
