Can I assign the value of skin friction to surface in Plaxis 3D

Hello everyone, I'm trying to simulate the installation of shaft sinking by adopted procedure from kinematic mechanical model, but I'm struggle with the skin friction at the wall of shaft. Can I assign the value of skin friction directly in the surface of shaft? or if anyone has better idea, pls let me know. Thank you very much!

  • Dear Suntisuk,

The embedded beam is a structural element with a special interface interaction with the soil. Specifying the skin fiction determines the bearing capacity of the embedded beam element regardless of the surrounding soil. However, it is the surrounding soil that will mobilize this friction on the embedded beam.

A custom interface material assigned to the interface allows for direct control of the behaviour via the strength and stiffness which are available in the Mechanical tab.
In the case that an interface uses the adjacent soil properties, then you should check the configuration in the Interfaces tab.
