Hello, im needing to create a design for a single pile in sand under combined loading at the pile head. The pile head needs to be offset above the soil top. then i need to look at the lateral responses. Just looking for advice thanks.
Dear Maggie,
Any sketch you have can help us understand what exactly you want to model.
Be aware that PLAXIS performs a simulation so it is important to include details that do make a difference in the geotechnical analysis and exclude items that do not.
Here is an example of the models, im testing lateral response.
Hello Maggie,
You can use volume elements to simulate the piles and include the load at the top (surface load). Keep in mind that you need to include interface elements around the pile and at the bottom to properly capture the soil-structure interaction.
So I would model as a polyline>create Surface>Extrude Down>delete off the top surface
What do you mean interface elements
Thankyou
I mean on the PLAXIS interface objects: Modelling soil-structure interaction: interfaces
oh okay, whats the difference between a positive and negative interface?
The sign (+ or -) just indicates which side it is at (left or right, up or down). There is no difference in the properties or behavior between a positive or a negative interface.
