Output Issue - Modelling Triaxial Test (using axisymmetric model) with Creep-SCLAY1S model

Hi,

I tried to simulate triaxial test in PLAXIS 2D using simple axisymmetric model with Creep-SCLAY1S model. Specifically, I tried to mirror the one test that provided in "PLAXIS The Creep-SCLAY1S model 2018.pdf". However, when I use different strain rates (slow and fast) during shearing, the stress-strain curves does not change.

On the other hand, I successfully modelled with Soft Soil Creep model (using the exact same model configurations). The stress-strain curves were identical to those provided in Soft Soil Creep Validation .pdf.

Kindly help me solve this issue. Thanks

  • Finally found the solution.

I utilized a dummy material to generate the initial stress at the sample. After the initial stresses are generated properly, the next phase is so called "change material" phase, which is to change the dummy with desired material (in this stage, plastic calculation is selected with 0.0001 day time interval). The final step is "shearing" phase, again, with plastic calculation (but in this last step, time interval depends on the strain rate you want to apply).

Thanks to Deltares document I found on the internet for showing this step!
