Hello everyone, I wanted to ask about the simulation of unconsolidated undrained triaxial tests in the "soil test" module: We entered a value of zero or close to zero in the "σ'xx" box (to simulate non-consolidation), then entering the other parameters, leaving the number of steps at 100 by default. The following graph was obtained with peaks, which interrupt the determination of the modulus of elasticity, however, increasing the number of steps, said peaks decrease but are still present in the curve. What is the reason for the presence of these peaks? I would also greatly appreciate the observations or the error that I could be making in the configuration of the "UU triaxial test" when entering the data in the "soil test" module.
Or how could I find a solution?
Hi Melissa,I will take a wild guess and assume that tension is developing in your sample due to the zero confining pressure. Your material has zero tensile strength, which may explain why the kernel is trying to take a few unloading steps to capture this buckling behaviour. An idea would be to increase the tensile strength of your soil, or if tension is irrelevant to your analysis, you can even deactivate the "tension cut-off" option.
Dear Basileios BasasIt is correct, increasing the tensile strength of the soil or directly deactivating the "tension cut-off" option, the peaks present in the UU test curve are corrected.I really appreciate your explanation and correction.
