I am using plaxis 3d to model geocell under static loading i.e plate load test.
I want to analyze the effect of pocket shape of geocell in the numerical modeling, hence i make 2 different scenarios, i.e. real shape geocell and diamond shape geocell.
For the staged construction, the first stage is the unreinforced case and the second stage is with geocell reinforcement.
But when i compare the result the load-settlement curve in the unreinforced stage is not the same between the 2 scenarios
I wonder, what can be the cause? is it just numerical error? or because the quality of the mesh? (I use the same mesh distribution for both scenarios)
Then what can i do to improve the result so it can be the same?

I am not sure how much the difference but it could be related to the mesh as the geocell is defined, the mesh changes.
So, you may try refining mesh more to reduce the effect of mesh size.
