Hi,
Is it ok to use Undrained B with hardning soil for stability and consolidation settlement analyses?
When i check the stability and settlement using Undrained A, the results are differenet.
Thanks.
1) We do not recommend using Hardening Soil in combination with Undrained B, because the Hardening Soil model will deprecate to a constant stiffness and no compression hardening.
2) You cannot do consolidation analysis with Undrained B for 2 reasons:
a) and Undrained B material does not make a correct prediction of the excess pore pressures. b) An Undrained B material set does not have the necessary increase of strength that in reality occurs in a consolidation analysis.
We strongly recommend to use Undrained A in combination with the Hardening Soil model.
With kind regards,
Dennis Waterman
