Dear Sandrine,
What kind of help would you need? It looks like the dam is failing because of subsoil failure and then indeed displacements can be large.Unfortunately there is no information on your model, but I have a strong feeling it's related to your model rather than the dam design. For instance, your bottom boundary should be considerably deeper than what you modelled it now - the subsoil should have a depth of at least 3 times the width of the embankment to avoid influence of the boundary on your results.
With kind regards,
Dennis Waterman
Good Morning DENNIS.Thank you very much for your kind response.
In fact, while I was oing the dynamic analysis, my boundaries disappear as if I didn't define them AT all.
When I read the reference manual of Plaxis 2D, it is said that I should apply " Compliant Base" boundary condition AT the base of the structure. But I don't know why I can't find this boundary condition eventhough I created an interface.I am using Plaxis 2D V20. Can you help me with this please.
Best Regards
You can set the compliant base in your dynamics calculation phase from the Model Explorer, choose the option Model Conditions -> Dynamics
But still you would have to put the boundary a lot lower than you've done in your model ....
In fact DENIS, even when I create the interface I can't find "Compliant base " as you, I just have "viscous " and " none ". May be it is the version I am using. Which version of Plaxis 2D are you using please ?
Also I have already tried lowing the base of the foundation but it didn't change anything.
Can you confirm that the Dynamics module and Geotechnical SELECT Entitlements are activated?
