I am trying to model the dowels between the structural plates of central wall in a tunnel as embedded beam. The plates are vertically standing with no contact with the soil. Is this a correct modelling approach to move forward with. I understand

RE: Modelling Beam or Embedded Beam

Go with the beam as there is no contact of soil.
I do not really fully understand your problem but you may pay attention to the connection between embedded beam and plates (in addition to its interaction with soil) as here the embedded beam connects to structural plates. Of course, when connection may not work as expected, the forces can be different between two approaches, i.e. beam and embedded beam. So, it is suggested to run a simple model with them and check the outputs.
