We cut the section in the y-direction to create the Figure (attached). 
 How can we prevent the initial settlement in the tunneling model?

&lt;p&gt;It&amp;#39;s not clear what tutorial you&amp;#39;re referring to, because the tunnel tutorial in the PLAXIS 3D manual is tutorial 5 and not tutorial 7. Also, the tunnel tutorial has only 5 calculation phases and in your graph you&amp;#39;re referring to phases 17, 30, 40, 50 and 55.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Finally, I would like to point out that tutorial exercises are to demonstrate functionality of the software and should NOT be used as basis for a real project.&lt;/p&gt;
