Hello, I modeled a pile using plates elements with custom propreties.
what i want to know is : 1- is it possible to get the geometry of the pile (diameter, length) or we can get only coordinates and do the calculations from there 2- is it possible to get the pile weight and/or volume (pile wall + stiffeners) which are plates elements using the plaxis OUTPUT or should i do a manual calculation using plate properties
I'm looking for a straight forward way to get the info, like autocad for example, you point at the element you get : geometry, volume, surface and so on .... Thank you
Hi ABO,
Obtaining the specific geometry of the pile (diameter, length) directly from the software can be a bit challenging, as PLAXIS primarily focuses on soil-structure interaction analysis rather than providing detailed geometric information. However, I can offer some guidance on how you can approximate or calculate the pile geometry and obtain its weight and volume:
Geometry of the Pile: To determine the geometry (diameter, length) of the pile, you would typically need to refer to the original design or modeling specifications you used to create the pile in PLAXIS. PLAXISdoes provide the coordinates of the plate elements that represent the pile, but it does not directly calculate or provide the geometric dimensions. You would need to manually calculate the dimensions using the coordinates of the plate elements and the assumed shape (e.g., circular, rectangular) of the pile.
Pile Weight and Volume: Similarly, PLAXIS does not provide direct output for the weight or volume of plate elements. To determine the weight and volume of the pile (including pile wall and stiffeners), you would need to perform manual calculations using the plate properties and dimensions. However, in Output, you could access the different volume information from the Project menu > Volume Information.
If you require precise geometric information or an easy-to-use graphical interface for obtaining geometry, volume, surface area, etc., you may find it more suitable to use specialized CAD software or 3D modeling tools that offer those features explicitly. In that case, you can export the geometry from PLAXIS Input as a .dxf file, by selecting the File menu > Export Geometry.
