Hi,
How should I simulate the mud on the outside of the sinking wells to help sink?
I know the Kn, Ks, C and φ of mud.If I establish an interface alone, no matter what constitutive model I use, I need to input E, but the mud does not have the so-called E.What better advice do the engineers have to let me successfully simulate the 10mm mud effect.
Is fluid constitutive a good choice, even though it requires a parameter K?
Thank you.
Dear Xin Fang,
As we mention in our Bentely communities page ((+) Fluid - PLAXIS UDSM - GeoStudio | PLAXIS Wiki - GeoStudio | PLAXIS - Bentley Communities) the fluid model is only used to simulate the effects of free water on water-retaining structures and quay walls or any other situation involving fluid-structure interaction in the case of this model the behaviour is only dependent of the bulk modulus. Therefore, this is not adequate to model mud. Models such as the soft soil, hardening soil could be suitable for those soils, but the selection of certain soil model depends on the correct characterisation/testing and knowledge of the material.
In the hypothetical case your soil is very soft with high compressibility the parameters for the soft soil can be determined using an oedometer test.
Kind regards,
