Hi Community,
I am trying to simulate a oedometer test in soil test of plaxis but i am not reaching the expected results. In communities.bentley.com/.../plaxis-soiltest---oedometer there is a video of an older version of SoilTest from plaxis, and with the new one (V22) i am having problems to simulate an easy compression test. I am trying to simulate a compression test with hypoplasticity, with a final stress of 400 kPa, in 30 steps of increments aprox, starting from 3 and increassing until 400 kPa. I dont know if i should put step by step from 3 to 400, and in that case would be each of them "1" step, or just directly 400kPa in 30 Steps. With any of them, the strain increments is almost negligible.
Thanks
Ana
Dear Ana,
You're applying a 401 kPa stress in 100 steps (hence 4.01 kPa per step) and then unload again until zero. This seems to be fine with me.
You say your strains are negligible, but the graph shows 400% strain. Also, you mention that you want to use hypoplasticity but according to the screenshots you're using the NorSand model (which is not a hypoplastic model). Hence, you will have to explain a bit more what problems you have and what you expected.
With kind regards,
Dennis Waterman
Thanks you so much Dennis for your quick reply. Sorry, i want to use NorSand, was a mistake.
Regarding the strains, here for example when i change the number of steps, i reach even higher values of strain. I may not be doing correctly the interpretation of the inputs.Because of as you said, the increments is finally the total increment devided in steps, shouldnt be so different.
