I am very new to plaxis and i am trying to understand modeling a retaining wall (from my understanding this is done using a plate element), i have a general idea of the steps but the values to input are giving me some trouble. I want to model steel sheet piling as the retaining wall. I will provide a simplified sketch of the retaining wall with the thickness exaggerated for clarity.
The retaining wall extends infinitely in the z axis.
1. What does A1 mean
2. If the wall is not modelled as isotropic, what would A2 mean considering it extends infinitely in the out of plane direction
3. is I referring to Ixx or Iyy
4. What does w represent
I did some research and saw that retaining walls can also be modelled as volume elements can someone shed some light on this
