Hello,
I'm wondering if it is possible to model triaxial geogrid in Plaxis, and what are the differences in the properties that should be input between the uniaxial and triaxial geogrid?
Appreciate for any help!
PLAXIS 3D allows for orthotropic as well as anisotropic material behavior in geogrid elements. This accounts for a biaxial geogrid. The easiest way to model a triaxial geogrid would be to find equivalent properties of the triaxial geogrid for input in the EA1 and EA2 directions in PLAXIS 3D. This would require comparing results with measurement data and field behavior because a direct input in more than two direction in PLAXIS 3D is not yet possible. If you come across any research publication that involves modeling of a triaxial geogrid it would be helpful to share with us. We are always looking forward towards expanding the capabilities of our programs.
