Dear friends,In the PLAXIS post processing, we can directly obtain phase displacements that helps us to visualize the displacements generated in a particular phase. Is it also possible to obtain the plot of stresses generated in a particular phase not including the stresses created in initial phase...???
Thanksjayarajan
For deformations we have the option to view the deformations in a particular phase and for that you can use the Phase displacements option in the deformations tab. When using Phase displacements option the pre-deformation of newly activated elements is ignored. This is relevant to some and not all cases, such as dams or embankments. You can take our tutorial lesson and try to see the difference on an actual example: PLAXIS 2D Tutorial 08: Construction of a road embankment For stresses there is no such option but you can manually subtract the stress results of the new phase from the stress results of the previous phase to get the stress change in the new phase.Hope this helps
Dear sir,
Thank you very much for your prompt response.
We were reviewing the raft foundation provided for a tall critical structure using PLAXIS both in terms of settlement & bearing pressure. The verification involved around more than 100 load combinations. Making a manual computation of incremental stresses due to the structure is almost impossible. Further, the owner require the plot of stress contours (net increase in stresses) for critical load combinations.
It would be great if PLAXIS can also include phase stresses similar to phase displacements in its post processing.
.
yes that would be a good feature to have. I would recommend that you submit the Idea in our portal to officially request and provide further information on your request and use case: GeoStudio | PLAXIS Ideas
Any insight on what you want to achieve and details about what you use it for will be great feedback for future feature considerations.
Dear Jayarajan,
When manual and repetitive work is involved, you can make the most of our PLAXIS Automation feature, scripting with Python. You can write a few lines of code and perform cumbersome and custom-based tasks.
Feel free to check our examples: API / Python scripting - PLAXIS
But as my colleague suggested, please submit this as an idea so that we have enough information to consider it in the future.
Dear Faseel
As per your instruction, the request is already posted under PLAXIS Ideas.
once again thanking for your continued support.
