Hi,
I am wondering what units i need to use for the input of a point load. It asks for kN/m but I am modelling a helical pile which due to axisymmetry should be kN/radian?
If I want to do test point load of 75kN would this be the same as doing 75/(2*pi) = approx. 12kN/m? or do I divide by 1*pi instead to get my axisymmetric point load?
Basically, how do I get from a kN/m input load to an actual point load on the shaft in kN?
Picture of my model is below:
Thanks heaps,
Cameron
Hi Cameron,
The unit input load (F_i) is load per length, e.g. kN/m and the total applied load (F_a) is determined by the input load times its circumference, i.e.: F_a= F_i * pi*2R (R: radius from the load to the central line).
