Point rotation fixity in Plaxis 3D

In Plaxis 2D, the rotation fixity of a point can be defined by using the Point_Displacement tool

However, in Plaxis 3D there is no option for rotation fixity. Can rotation fixity of a point be set in Plaxis 3D?

  • Dear Sasa,

Indeed, in PLAXIS 3D there is no option available yet as in PLAXIS 2D. This is currently considered for the future versions of PLAXIS 3D.

Depending on what you need to model you can only force it to not rotate by attaching e.g a beam to it, in the perpendicular direction, and then use a prescribed displacement set to fixed or combine it with a rigid body which allows for setting a condition for rotation.

Can you please elaborate on the case you need to model that requires a rotation fixity?

I will include the information to our report.
