Offshore wind is growing worldwide and is bound to play a crucial role in the ongoing decarbonization of the economy. Around 80% of offshore wind foundations are monopiles, which are quickly getting larger to accommodate the ever-increasing capacity of new turbines. Skilled Geotechnical Engineers are required to model the soil-structure interaction of those foundations under constant innovation. PLAXIS 3D and PLAXIS MoDeTo offer a powerful combination for the geotechnical design of even the largest monopile foundations.

In this Geotechnical Analysis Special Interest Group virtual workshop, you will learn:

  • The challenges in modelling XXL monopile foundations for offshore wind
  • How to apply the PISA method with PLAXIS MoDeTo for both rule-based design and numerical-based design
  • How to quickly build 3D monopile models for homogeneous and layered soils and export soil reaction curves to structural analysis software, such as SACS.
