Dear all,
When modelling piles as volume elements, the soil that exists in the place of the piles, is it still there when we introduce the pile volumes?
Or is the soil automatically ignored?
Dear Abdirahman,
The activation of the material of piles in a phase simulates the case of a whished-in-place pile. This means that the soil is instantly replaced by the concrete (or any material) of the pile.
The calculation will consider the strength and stiffness of the pile material in the analysis of this calculation phase and not the one of the soil.
